Who we are... [ The Trainer | Funky Frogs | Mini-Frogs ]

We are the Rope Skipping group of the Sports Club "Turnverein 1903 Crumstadt e.V." and would like to tell you something about our "group history":
It began with a course by the DTB (German Gymnastics Association) where Rope Skipping was first introduced. The first group, which consisted of 9 girls, came into being in September 1995. Soon it became clear that the variety of Rope Skipping is huge and that skipping is a lot of fun. We wanted to experience the whole world of Rope Skipping with its numerous skips and variations, with different ropes, alone and in groups.
At the beginning we trained in a part of the local sports hall, but soon there was not enough room for the growing group. After the renovation of the club's own gym the main group was split up into smaller groups with differing practice times.
Soon we had our first shows at club or company celebrations. Meanwhile we took part in several courses and met other Rope-Skipping-Fans. There have been competitions in Hessen since 1997 and soon competitions all over Germany followed in which we took part.
Soon it became clear that we had to invent a logo and a group-name. After a slight detour via the "Criss-Cross-Jumpers", which satisfied no one, we decided on the "Funky Frogsv and created our "Funky Frog" using the PC.
At the moment, there are about 50 girls training in 3 groups for an hour a week. Only the "oldest" ones meet a second time a week for additional training. We found out that Rope Skipping really is a lot of fun. If you try it once the enthusiasm does not let you go again. So - just try it!
